'Andrew Jackson, in the main foyer of his White House had a big block of cheese. The block of cheese was huge --- over two tons. And it was there for any and all who might be hungry. Jackson wanted the White House to belong to the people, so from time to time, he opened his doors to those who wished an audience. It is in the spirit of Andrew Jackson that I, from time to time, ask senior staff to have face-to-face meetings with those people representing organizations who have a difficult time getting our attention. '
The above is according to the West Wing's Leo McGarry of TV's the West Wing. That is the basic idea behind President Obama's "Big Block of Cheese Day". This year is the 2nd annual, and yes they got Bradley Whitford (Josh Lyman) and Joshua Malina (Will Bailey) for last year's video. This year's, however, reunites most of the cast including Lyman, Malina, Allison Janney (C.J. Cregg), Martin Sheen (President Bartlet), Richard Schiff (Toby Ziegler) and Dulé Hill (Charlie Young).
I don't know what value an online 'Big Block of Cheese Day' has, but the video makes me nostalgic. Currently just about every TV show ever is being considered for a revival (or its already in production), hopefully the West Wing will be added to the list at some point.
