PBS Digital Studios teams up with the Vlogbrothers channel Crash Course to teach you Astronomy

The Green Brothers, Hank and John are incredibly successful on YouTube and in other areas as well. Their channel Vlogbrothers has more than 2.4 million subscribers, Hank's YouTube channel SciShow also has well over 2.3 million and, at last count their latest project "Crash Course" has over 2.6 million. If you are interested, you can check out their many accomplishments, online and otherwise, on Wikipedia.

Crash Course is a pretty descriptive name. The YouTube channel offers short, 10-12 minute lessons in everything from science, medicine, psychology, history, current events, literature and more. The goal of Crash Course is to give you a basic understanding of a topic like chemistry or biology, for example, in small bite sized chunks which - if watched all together - come to an hour or two. So, if you were so inclined, you could gain a better understanding of chemistry, shakespeare and psychology on a Sunday afternoon with time left over.

The two newest entries in the Crash Course library are both backed by PBS Digital Studios.

The first is a series on Astronomy hosted by Phil “The Bad Astronomer” Plait. The second, starting on January 23, will be a course on US Government hosted by YouTuber Craig “WheezyWaiter” Benzine. Both men do a good job of covering a lot of ground quickly while keeping it light and entertaining.
