I've discussed the possibility that robots (and artificial intelligence) will eventually replace all of our jobs. That includes drudge work and creative jobs. While stand up comedy may be one of the last professions to fall, it appears that the process is now underway. Via io9:
"Researchers from Queen Mary’s Cognitive Science Research Group are using RoboThespian to study how the audience relates to a robot performer, and what adjustments the robot can make on the fly to better connect with its audience. PhD student Kleomenis Katevas programmed the robot and comedian Tiernan Douieb wrote the jokes.
