Screen Shot 2013-04-24 at 1.12.19 AM from the Sunlight Foundation is a very simple but magnificently useful site. Simply cut a snippet from any suspicious thing you are reading and paste it into the box on It will then be run through a vast database of articles and press releases to look for a match. In an era of rampant plagiarism at the highest levels and press releases delivered as news it is incredibly useful and even necessary to be able to find out what you're actually reading.

Churnalism also has a public API which means that soon the sites functionality will be put to other uses (perhaps an app that hilights plagiarism as soon as you click on it, without the need to visit the site?)
