Understanding the Dangers of Permafrost Melting

This video from the Yale Climate Forum explains what permafrost is and what will happen when and if it melts. According to Mother Jones we are very close to the permafrost tipping point, and if that point is reached we will see a rapid release of gasses trapped by the permafrost including CO2 and methane. This could drastically increase the rate of global warming and, unlike man made C02, there would be little we could do to control the release.
