Tony Blair's New Justification for Iraq War: Because Arab Spring

In an interview to mark the 10th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, Tony Blair gave the BBC a whole new justification for the Iraq War:
"And if you look at what's happening in the Arab Spring today and you examine what's happening in Syria - just reflect on what Bashar al-Assad, who is a 20th as bad as Saddam, is doing to his people today and the number of lives already lost.

"Just ask yourself the question: 'What would be happening now in Iraq if he had been left in power?'"

So it was apparently ok that Blair and his co-conspirators lied to the world and launched an unprovoked war which claimed at least 100,000 lives (by the most conservative estimates) because if they had not done so, Saddam Hussein might have done so 10 years later.

This may not be as absurd as it seems. At one point, Blair's government apparently tried using psychics to locate Osama Bin Laden. Perhaps one of those psychics actually was clairvoyant enough to predict events that would occur 10 years later in the Arab world. Perhaps they had a powerful vision of an even more destructive war in Iraq. If the British government or MI6 has documents to verify this, they should unveil them to the world.  It actually might cause people to re-think their position on the war, as well as their position on psychic phenomenon.

Without that though, you cannot justify a horrendous crime based on the possibility of a future crime. ( "Look officer, I only robbed the bank because of the large and tempting pile of cash inside. If I hadn't robbed it and that pile continued to grow, someone else would have robbed it and stolen even more." )

Sadly, as of today, the body count in Iraq is continuing to grow and so far no one has been held accountable.
