New Archive Features Interviews With Hundreds of Music Legends

In preparing for his 1988 book Off the Record, retired music industry executive Joe Smith conducted more than 200 interviews with musics brightest stars and (then) living legends. Smith donated these recordings to the US Library of Congress and the Library of Congress has begun to digitize these interviews and post them online. To date only 25 of the 200+ interviews are available. But, already the list includes Tony Bennett, David Bowie, Ray Charles, Dick Clark, Bo Diddley, Herbie Hancock, Mick Jagger, George Harrison, BB King, Yoko Ono and many others. Over time this list is going to become much more impressive. Visit loc.gov/rr/record/joesmith to start listening, and check back frequently to see who has been added. (via OpenCulture)
