Freedom is a Hammer :: Conservative Folk Music of the 60s

Conservatives have never understood youth culture, not even when they were young, but they have sometimes tried to capitalize on it. No, they didn't have Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young or Arlo Guthrie but they did have Janet Greene, Tony Dolan and Vera Vanderlaan and no, you shouldn't know who those people are, they were not underrated. But you can still listen to them sing, mainly about communism if you buy Freedom Is A Hammer: Conservative Folk Revolutionaries Of The Sixties. When I first heard this I immediately though of the 1992 film Bob Roberts, if you haven't seen it you should. It wasn't great but it is funny and timely, even today.
