Kickstarter: SkyCube Will Let You "Tweet" From Space for $1

SkyCube, an exercise in crowd funded space exploration will launch in early 2013. The nano-satellite will take pictures of the Earth and broadcast them back to Earth where anyone with the proper app on their phone will be able to retrieve them.

In addition to the photographs SkyCube will transmit a communications signal back to Earth. This signal, among other things, tells the research team that the cube is functioning normally. As an incentive for people to back the project, anyone who contributes $1 or more will be allowed to control the message sent by SkyCube for a set period of time.

As of this moment, the SkyCube team are about half way to their $82,500 goal.
